80. BECOMING MORE LIKE JESUS – PRACTICES TO INCORPORATE INTO YOUR EVERY DAY LIFE

(The Abundant Life Series – Batch 1)

I’ve been on a mission to become more and more like Jesus and have been collecting and grouping scriptures to assist me in my endeavour. The following are a list of twenty (20) scriptures I collected in some of the areas that posed a challenge to me in my everyday Christian walk.

If you like, you can read these daily and allow these precious words to seep into your mind, heart and spirit to effect your transformation and keep you on the right track:

  • “Let THE WORD of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16)
  • Let your SPEECH be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” (Colossians 4:5)
  • “And WHATSOEVER YE DO, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto man. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
  • Be careful for NOTHING; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
  • “Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, THINK on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
  • Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each ESTEEM other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of man: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” (Philippians 2: 3-8)
  • Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your MOUTH but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:29-30)
  • Be ye ANGRY and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.” (Ephesians 4:26)
  • Neither GIVE PLACE to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:27)
  • Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and EVIL SPEAKING be put away from you with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)
  • “This I say then, WALK in the spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)
  • Let us not be DESIROUS of vainglory, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galatians 5: 26)
  • “For brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not LIBERTY for an occasion to the flesh but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself; But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.” (Galatians 5:13-15)
  • “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are SPIRITUAL, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” (Galatians 6:1)
  • “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit, shall of the Spirit reap life. And let us not be weary in WELL DOING: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”(Galatians 5:7-9)
  • “As we have therefore opportunity let us DO GOOD unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 5:10)
  • WATCH ye, STAND FAST in the faith, quit you like men, BE STRONG.” (1 Corinthians 16:13)
  • Let all your things be done with CHARITY.” (1 Corinthians 16:14)
  • “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer but a DOER of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” (James 1:25)
  • Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with MEEKNESS OF WISDOM. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” (James 3:13-18)
