268. A FREE GIFT!

(The Faith Forum Series – Batch 8)

I was listening to a song this evening by Esther Mui called “Fountain of Life”, which led to my searching the scriptures (via online search) for other references to God being the Fountain of Life. I also perused an Article I had written on 7th March, 2022, called “God – The Fountain Of Life,” where I remembered I had placed some verses. After finding what I wanted, I decided to put the verses on Facebook, alongside the song and so I did. While in the process of doing so though, a whole Article emerged and I found myself typing more than I had planned. For, I thought of how I could use the song and the verses, to provide the gospel, within the context of the Christmas season, which was only six days away.

I wrote:

This Christmas, many gifts will be wrapped and distributed to friends, family and those in need. God is also offering a free gift to all who will accept it and without discrimination. This gift cannot be found in any store, cannot be earned through effort or good works and can only be accessed through Jesus Christ. It is priceless, so much so that not even the richest man on earth can afford it. In light of this truth and because of God’s great love for the world, in his mercy and solely by his grace, he is offering it FREE OF CHARGE to WHOSOEVER is wise enough to accept it. It is available to the pauper in the streets, to the President in his quarters. WHOSOEVER WILL MAY COME!

This GIFT OF GOD is SALVATION and ETERNAL LIFE, which can be accessed simply by believing in faith on Jesus Christ his Son. The window of opportunity is limited but thankfully, you and I are still in the land of the living, so for us, right this moment, it remains open. 2 Corinthians 6:2 reminds us of the urgency though, in coming to Jesus Christ for this gift. It is not wise to delay. It says, “…behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation.” Hebrews 3:7-8 also declares, “TO DAY if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts…”

Romans 10:9-13 assures all human beings that:

  • “…if thou shalt CONFESS with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt BELIEVE in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man BELIEVETH unto righteousness; and with the mouth CONFESSION is made unto SALVATION. For the scripture saith, WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto ALL that call upon him. For WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED.”

Jesus said:

  • “I am the way, the truth, and THE LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
  • “…I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the FOUNTAIN OF THE WATER OF LIFE freely” (Revelation 21:6).
  • β€œβ€¦I am come that they might have LIFE, and that they might have it more ABUNDANTLY” (John 10:10).

Of Jesus, the Bible tells us:

  • “Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
  • Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest THE GIFT OF GOD, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have ASKED OF HIM, and HE WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEE LIVING WATER. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: BUT WHOSOEVER DRINKETH OF THE WATER THAT 𝐈 SHALL GIVE HIM SHALL NEVER THIRST; BUT THE WATER THAT 𝐈 SHALL GIVE HIM SHALL BE IN HIM A WELL OF WATER SPRINGING UP INTO EVERLASTING LIFE.”

The Word of God tells us:

  • “…WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have ETERNAL LIFE. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have EVERLASTING LIFE. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:15-17)
  • “How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be ABUNDANTLY satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the FOUNTAIN OF LIFE: in thy light shall we see light” (Psalm 36:7-9).
  • “The fear of the Lord is a FOUNTAIN OF LIFE, to depart from the snares of death” (Proverbs 14:27).

God’s Word states:

  • “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT IS CONDEMNED already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:18-19)
  • “For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the FOUNTAIN OF LIVING WATERS, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” (Jeremiah 2:13)
  • “O Lord, the hope of Israel, ALL that forsake thee SHALL be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the FOUNTAIN OF LIVING WATERS.” (Jeremiah 17:13).
