342. HOPING FOR A MAN LIKE BOAZ
(The Single Woman Series – Batch 6)
In the book of Ruth in the Bible, Boaz was seemingly fascinated by Ruth’s story, admired how she had conducted herself in her adversity and wanted to help her while she was still going through whatever she was going through. He was later honoured that Ruth shewed him interest, him considering her (based on his high estimation of her despite her past and where she had come from) as being able to secure one of the younger men, if she wished. He clearly felt blessed therefore when the idea presented itself, of marrying her. Having perceived her high value, he acted with integrity and willingly embraced the opportunity for her to be his when it came.
Contrastingly, the other man who was Ruth’s nearer kinsman, did the opposite. He appeared to look down at Ruth (maybe partly because of where she had come from (She was a Moabite) and the fact that she was widowed), considered her a burden which he did not want to be saddled with and a threat to his future inheritance. He therefore declined the invitation to marry her.
As a single woman that is still hoping for a love relationship and spouse, I want a man that, like Boaz is genuinely interested in hearing about my story. He must want to know about all of it, given that it helped shape who I am today. He must want to know about the mountainous moments, the valleys, the battles, the struggles, the accomplishments, the victories, the challenges, the hardships, the mistakes, the chastenings, the successes and the defeats.
I also want a man that admires the way I conducted myself through my difficulties and hardships, where I demonstrated faith against all odds and a man that wants to help me through whatever I am still going through at the moment.
I want a man that thinks so highly of me, that he is honoured that I would be interested in him and no one else and would feel blessed when the opportunity presents itself to marry me, operating with integrity but willingly and graciously embracing me as a wife, despite my past difficulties.
It is to also be noted of Boaz, that, without any ulterior or selfish motive and before Ruth had made her interest known to him, he treated her respectfully always. He was kind, gracious to her, considerate and protective of her. May such a man with such beautiful qualities grace my presence and me his. May he come quickly. I am patiently waiting.
