123. WE SERVE A ‘LET THERE BE’ GOD
(The Faith Forum Series – Batch 2)
“In the beginning…God said,
Let there be Light…
Let there be a firmament…
Let the waters under the heaven be gathered…
Let the earth bring forth grass…
Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven…
Let them be for signs and for seasons…
Let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven…
Let the waters bring forth abundantly…
Let the earth bring forth the living creature…
and it was so.” (Genesis 1:1-24).
This is a reminder, placed prominently and befittingly at the very ‘beginning’ of the Bible, that we serve a ‘LET THERE BE’ God. All it takes is for him to SPEAK it or will it into being and it comes to pass. Indeed, as Paul so rightly and beautifully described him when referring to God’s promise made to Abraham in Romans 4:17, he is a “…God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.“
It is not the circumstances in your life that will determine how things will turn out but what God has willed and what he has SPOKEN. Circumstances are no match for God’s SPOKEN word.
What should then be your role, given that you serve a LET THERE BE God? Once he has SPOKEN, you should believe that it is so, no matter what your eyes see or what people may tell you. This is what Abraham did. In Romans 4:18 -21, it said of him:
- “Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was SPOKEN, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither the deadness of Sarah’s womb, He staggered not at THE PROMISE OF GOD through unbelief; but was STRONG IN FAITH, giving GLORY to God. And being FULLY PERSUADED that, what HE had promised, HE was also ABLE to perform.”
How about you? Whatever God has spoken about you are you fully persuaded? He has an unwavering track record of demonstrating that he is ABLE to perform.
IN THE BEGINNING…LET THERE BE…AND IT WAS SO!
Amen.
