(The Faith Forum Series – Batch 3)
On one of those days when I was feeling sort-of low, I wrote:
Good morning wall.
I was sort of hoping that you wouldn’t still be here today but here you are again, faithfully. I’ve hit you, kicked you, marched around you, rebuked you and willed you to be removed but day after day, year after year, you’re still here.
Why is it that you are so committed to stand at my side and to obscure my vision? Don’t you think that I would like to take a few steps and even some leaps in life, without having to be limited by your impenetrable mass? It gets boring sometimes, just staring at you.
I long so much to be on the other side, to move on and to catch up with others who are miles ahead, that it hurts. It hurts so much, I don’t like thinking about it for too long.
I’ve been built with so much potential. Why do you insist on standing in my way? Do you intend to do so forever? Can’t you have mercy on the fact that I’m getting older and am yet to find the love of a man (one of God’s sons), to have children and to enjoy some of life? Why do you insist on keeping me from this basic happiness?
I feel like your perpetual prisoner and I long to be free.
Don’t bother! It is a waste of time talking with you anyway. You’re not even alive. I will appeal to a higher authority, in fact the highest authority there is.
“Father in heaven, please have mercy on me and make me free! Your Word is like fire and a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces. Please break this wall that has been holding me back for so many years and keeping me from getting to the next level, into a million pieces. Let it not block me any further. Please help me to move forward, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
