329. DIALOGUE WITH GOD

(The Faith Forum Series – Batch 12)

Sometimes I think of a problem I have and then consider what God says in his Word about it or what wisdom he imparts that can be applied to it, especially where I don’t have the solution and am powerless to make things change. This morning, I did this again and thought of key verses from God’s Word which I can meditate upon, in response to my issue and created a dialogue out of it.

This was encouraging to me, as, although most of the verses from God’s Word applied to promises that he made to the Israelites under the Old Covenant, I consider them to give invaluable insight into God’s character. Additionally, given that I know that he is faithful and never changes, I believe that his love for his children under the New Covenant (the Church age), is as much as the love he had for the children of Israel in the Old Testament. What he said he would do for them, he can do for me and where he promised to be faithful to them, I believe that he intends to be equally faithful to me, as his child.

Many of the verses I selected and included are verses that resonated with me over the years and that I have felt that God was speaking to me through, as I faced different challenges and learned the art of waiting, on him. I therefore believe that they can be applied to Christians today and to my life.

Having provided that context, here is the dialogue I typed up today, me citing my problem and simply referencing what God’s Word says in response:

Me: Lord, people think that you have forgotten and forsaken me, due to my years of adversity and singleness. What do you say?

God: “Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.” (Isaiah 43:1).

“Thou shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.” (Isaiah 62:3-4)

“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” (Isaiah 49:16)

“And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.” (Isaiah 46:4)

“Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.”

“For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion whom no man seeketh after.” (Jeremiah 30:17)

“Fear not; for thou shall not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer.” (Isaiah 54:4-8)

“Thus saith the Lord God; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it.” (Ezekiel 36:33-36)

“And thou shall be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.” (Isaiah 62:12)

“Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” (John 11:40)

“Be not afraid, only believe.” (Mark 5:36)
