(The Faith Forum Series – Batch 2)
God is just not able to do what you ask him to do but he is able to bless you EXCEEDINGLY OVER and ABOVE, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you could ever ASK, THINK or begin to IMAGINE.
Ephesians 3:20 reads: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…”
Wow! I’m excited!
The extent that God does this however, is dependent to some extent on YOU because he operates at the LEVEL of your faith. If you have absolutely none therefore or just a little, then guess what you’re going to get?
Verse 20 states that he is able to do more than you can even think of or hope for BUT “…according to the power that worketh in us.”
Wow! That is why Jesus left a particular place without doing any great miracles there. It wasn’t that he could not do it but there were too many doubting ‘Thomases’ in that place. (Sorry Thomas).
Mark 6:5-6 states: “And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.”
What it all boils down to therefore, is that you can be your own best friend or your worst. If you don’t believe, you will not receive and even if you do, the level or extent that you receive, will many times be based on the level or extent of your faith in Jesus Christ and what he can do.
This is because miracles are many times predicated on the RIGHT environment. God usually chooses to operate in an atmosphere of FAITH, not in faith itself but in his Son the Lord Jesus Christ and his power to do what seems to be impossible. How is your atmosphere?
James 1:7 states:
- “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in FAITH, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
When your faith is where it should be, God shows up (but in his own time. He cannot be rushed) and blows your mind!
Now I don’t know about you but I believe that absolutely NOTHING is too hard for my God to do. Each day therefore is exciting because I wait in anticipation of what he is going to do on my behalf. I am joyful because I KNOW that he is on his way.
He may take longer for some things than I may have hoped or anticipated but his timing is perfect and when he is ready, he DOES come.
