247. THIS BOOK

(The Information & Edification Series – Batch 6)

This morning, while reading and meditating on Job 37, I thought of the beauty of this book, the Bible, that God, in his mercy and faithfulness, allowed me to have and to read and of the awesome treasures contained therein.

I got pen and paper and in contemplation of my own life experience with this book called the Bible, I wrote:

  • This book has been a comfort to me;
  • This book has rebuked me;
  • This book has blessed me;
  • This book has informed me;
  • This book has been my guide;

  • This book heals, cleanses and purifies me;
  • This book has given me instruction;
  • This book has given me direction;
  • This book has declared to me the words of truth;
  • This book has declared to me the words of wisdom;
  • This book points out my sin;
  • This book directs me to the Saviour;
  • This book tells me of a heaven to gain;
  • This book tells me of a hell to shun;
  • This book contains the words of God;
  • This book is full of truth;
  • This book tells me how to live;
  • This book tells me how to have life abundantly;
  • This book is what we all need;
  • This book will never pass away;
  • This book will survive throughout the ages;
  • This book is here to stay;
  • This book is the Word of God;
  • And Jesus is the Word, in written form.

The Bible which is the Word of God, states of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God and therefore God the Son, who took on a human body (flesh) and came into this earth and dwelt among other human beings until he was crucified but then rose up from the dead (as he said he would), appeared to many people for at least forty days and then returned to heaven:

  • “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made…In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not…He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1-5; 10-14).
