(The Faith Forum Series – Batch 3)

From my experience, this world frowns at you and casts its nose down at you when you’re weak and when you find yourself in a place where you don’t know what to do. It accuses you contemptuously: “How dare you don’t know what to do! How dare you be confused! How dare you not have a clue as to what to do next and how to move forward and how to get back on your feet again, when life has thrown you down!”

When life has thrown you a bunch of lemons, even wounding you in the process, this world expects you to know how to make lemonade but sometimes, you don’t, especially if you don’t have enough money to get the other ingredients needed, like sugar or the jug or pitcher to make it in.

Yes, this world is generally unsympathetic when you are down and out and afraid and tired and don’t know what to do next or how to get out of the pit situation you find yourself in. You may desperately search for someone who cares and someone who understands what you’re going through and can give you good counsel and support out of your situation but such persons are very hard to find. What you tend to find in abundance, even when you did not go looking for them are people who will be highly critical of you, judgmental, full of ridicule and who enjoy spreading gossip about you and your plight.

Yet, when I look in the Bible, I SEE A JESUS who people came to when they didn’t know what to do, like Jehoshaphat, that great king in Judah, when he and his people were surrounded by a great army, coming with one aim, which was to destroy them.

I SEE A JESUS that encouraged people to come to him and to cast their burdens on him because his yoke is easy and his burden is light. I SEE A JESUS that said, that if any man comes to him, he will in no wise cast him out.

When I’m down and out, tired and weary, when friends seem distant and I don’t have the answers to my problems no matter how hard I have tried to solve them, contrary to popular belief and what people have told me, I see in the Bible that God does not help those who help themselves. He helps those who CAN’T help themselves.

Since I don’t know what to do, can’t help myself and don’t have the answers to my many problems, since I have admitted this to the Lord Jesus and asked him for help, I therefore qualify for his DIVINE INTERVENTION.

From my own experiences, the accounts recorded in the Bible and the experiences I have observed in others, things may go from bad to worse in your life and your situation. Like Lazarus, your situation may seem dead or you may feel like you have died, before Jesus decides to put in an appearance.

However, although God tends to take his time, HE DOES COME and when he comes, no matter how late, no matter how far gone the situation, no matter how weary you feel and how hopeless everything looks and how everyone has given you up for dead and laughed at you and mocked at you and spoken all manner of evil about you, He (Jesus) is ALWAYS on time.
